Newsflash

op-shieldDid you know that this year, with the support of the Dominican Family in Ireland, we have some part sponsorship available!

If you are interested in attending the music & liturgy course and are unable to cover the costs of the course, then you can avail of some sponsorship to attend the course. We're anxious that money should not be a factor in preventing young people from attending and are happy to help in whatever way we can.

Contact me at tricia@knockadoon.net for more information. All requests will be treated in complete confidence! The only thing we ask is that you are involved in a choir/parish in some capacity.

July 30, 2009

Welcome to Knockadoon 2009! We’re really looking forward to you all joining us in Knockadoon this year. I’m writing to you all with some important reminders and notes before you make the trip to Cork!

Bring your Gather book with you

If you have been in Knockadoon in the past 4 years, you will have received a complimentary copy of GATHER. You must bring this with you. If you are attending for the first time you will receive a FREE copy of Gather. If you have attended in the past and have lost your Gather book, you can purchase one in KAD for 15 euro. Also, we are short on Piano and Guitar accompaniment books for Gather so if you have an accompaniment edition in your choir, could you please bring it with you. It’d be really helpful to us.

Bring a plain black tee-shirt and denims with you.

We are singing at public Mass in Youghal on Thursday evening at 7:30pm with a short concert afterwards. We will dress in a uniform of plain black tee-shirt and denims – you need to bring these with you. Do tell your family and friends about the concert (particularly If you are living locally in Cork) as all support is welcome. You can download a poster advertising the concert on our website at www.knockadoon.net.

Money!

We will spend Thursday afternoon in Perks in Youghal so you will need some spending money for this. However, please do not bring large sums of money to Knockadoon with you. We have only a small shop on camp with limited items on sale so you will not need large sums of spending money. Some of our composers will have CD’s/Music books for sale on camp so if you wish to purchase these, bring some money with you also for that purpose.

Bring your instruments with you.

Don’t forget to bring whatever instruments you play (if you play!) with you. You will use these during tutorials and in general sessions for the group.

Bring your sleeping bag, pillow and sheets with you.

Knockadoon is a camp facility. You will need your own bed linen, towels, pillows and/or sleeping bag. We have communal showering areas etc... so bring flip flops and all your own toiletries.

Bring your swimming gear.

Knockadoon is beside the sea! We have free time each afternoon and depending on weather, sea conditions and tides, you will be free to have a swim if you so wish (once our life-guard is on duty!).

Bring yourself!

The camp officially begins with registration on Saturday 15th at 4pm. Please plan your arrival for around that time. Also the camp finishes on Saturday 22nd at 1pm. We will have a final liturgy at 11am and ask that you be present for that. If you are not arriving on Saturday – please do let us know so that we can keep track of those who should be on camp at any time.

For those of you travelling from Dublin, a special bus will leave St. Mary’s Priory, Tallaght at 12 midday sharp on Saturday 15th. Please be on time for this bus!

Any other questions or queries - call or email me and I’ll be happy to help you! See you all real soon…
