Newsflash

op-shieldDid you know that this year, with the support of the Dominican Family in Ireland, we have some part sponsorship available!

If you are interested in attending the music & liturgy course and are unable to cover the costs of the course, then you can avail of some sponsorship to attend the course. We're anxious that money should not be a factor in preventing young people from attending and are happy to help in whatever way we can.

Contact me at tricia@knockadoon.net for more information. All requests will be treated in complete confidence! The only thing we ask is that you are involved in a choir/parish in some capacity.

Getting there!

How to get there

Coming from Cork
Take the Waterford road to Castlemartyr. At Castlemartyr take a right turn (signposted Ladysbridge/Ballymacoda). Ladysbridge is about 2km from Castlemartyr. At Ladysbridge take a left turn (over the hump- backed bridge and signposted Ballymacoda). Continue along this road (a small country road) until you get to Ballymacoda. Drive straight through Ballymacoda and on till you reach Knockadoon Head (About another 5km). The Camp is at the end of this road - you can’t miss it (if you do you’ve just driven into the sea!!).

Coming from Waterford/Dublin:
Take the main Cork road until you reach Youghal. Do NOT take the Youghal bypass but instead follow the road signs for Youghal Town Centre.  Drive through Youghal following the signs for Cork. On the far side of Youghal (about 1 km outside) there is a left turn signposted for Ballymacoda. Take this turn. Ballymacoda is about 15km along this road (another small country road). When you reach Ballymacoda follow the instructions above.

What to bring

Your meals and materials for the course will all be catered for during the week. You will however need to bring the following items with you:

  • Sleeping bag and pillow + pillow case
  • Pen and Notebook
  • Towel
  • Knockadoon is beside the sea so if you wish to swim you should bring Swimming Clothes
  • Warm clothes for at Night
  • Any music you may have written that you wish to share
  • Rain gear
  • You are also encouraged to bring along your own musical instruments if this is practical.
